Bunnies and Ducklings and Chicks, Don't Buy...For Easter!

Every year thousands of baby bunnies, ducklings, and chicks are purchased as gifts, and unfortunately, most die within the first few days, weeks, and months, because of mishandling, neglect, or from being abandoned in parks, backyards, or shelters. The majority of these animals are bought during March and April as Easter gifts, later to be reconsidered. Pet stores and Feed stores are even going as far as dyeing these animals pastel colors to attract people to buy them specifically for Easter, treating these helpless, living beings as novelty items!

Our goal is to raise awareness for this unnecessary occurrence, and hopefully prevent it, by offering our adorable, adoptable "stuffed" Easter themed animals in place of the live animals that are regularly purchased around this time of year. 100% of the proceeds from our bunnies, and ducklings, and chicks, and even little lambs, goes to build 'Salvatore's Boarding House', so we can house all of the unfortunate, abandoned and homeless animals from all across the United States. Here is the LINK to our online store!

We believe, as many do, that bunnies make excellent house pets for someone who is ready, willing, and able to take on the responsibility that is needed to raise these adorable, yet fairly high maintenance animals for the next 10+ years. A rabbit makes a good pet, especially for an older child, but should never be an impulse buy as a gift for any holiday, such as Easter! And, instead of buying, we encourage adopting one in desperate need of a home, from your local shelter! Here is a helpful LINK on raising rabbits.

Ducklings and chicks, on the other hand, are not a domestic "pet", as they need to be raised in flocks, and have plenty of outdoor space to roam free, so they definitely shouldn't ever be purchased as an Easter basket adornment! They are intelligent, loving animals that need to be raised on a farm, even a small farm...they're just not suited to be house pets, especially for small children!

In addition to raising awareness against impulse buying - which is what generally leads to the abandonment and/or death, of these animals - we're also presenting a bill request to our state legislature to prevent ducklings and chicks from being sold individually. The bill request does not include bunnies...as we discussed previously, they make for great house pets.

In helping our efforts to get the bill passed through legislation - which would greatly reduce, and even eliminate the number of neglected, abandoned, and killed rabbits, ducks, and chickens...especially those purchased as gifts and impulse buys around Easter time - PLEASE sign and share our petition, so together, we can spread the word about this inhumane, and avoidable dilemma. Here is the LINK to the petition!

Thank YOU for doing YOUR part, and in turn, helping US do what WE can do, to Make a Difference for the animals!
